On Saturday, May 20, we had the chance to return to Silver Fox Sound in Harvest, AL to record a new single. The song is our original ‘Saturday Morning Wake Up Call’. We enlisted the help of some of our talented friends to fill out the sound this time.
Johnny Hardin played drums, djembe, shaker and tambourine. We met Johnny when he was playing a show with Amber Cavanaugh. Johnny is a natural musician who can jump right in on any song we throw at him. He also has a warm, enthusiastic personality that makes him fun to work with.
Lisa Harper-Chang played accordion on the track. That's not her first instrument, but she did a solid job adding texture and fullness to the recording. She was handy enough on the accordion to play several lines suggested by producer Robert Fox without any hesitation or preparation. We met Lisa in the early days of the open mic night at Salty Nut Brewery (way back in 2022!) She's been a good friend ever since.
Our sound was rounded out by Lisa's husband Jim on stand-up bass. Jim put some nice walking bass lines into the track. Check out the ascending line at the crescendo of the bridge. Jim has a fun sense of humor. It was nice to get to know him a little better.
Our single will be available for streaming in a few weeks. Be sure to follow us on Spotify to get notification when it drops! https://open.spotify.com/artist/2JOuwg3XCOXaycIHUOLjOC
